AnalogLovers – Still Alive

Tons of articles and blog posts have been written about vinyl coming back over the last few months, and most of it is a pleasure to read. The more people write and talk about vinyl the better. However, sometimes it’s good to take a step back and look at some of the earlier stuff that came out. Some of that earlier stuff is AnalogLovers, a page for all things analog. AnalogLovers was published at a time when the CD was still to some extent selling and vinyl was mostly appreciated by collectors, audiophiles and some die hard music lovers. While browsing through the pages I can’t help, but smile. I don’t think many at that time would have thought that vinyl would be that popular again, but it sure seems like it will. Not like back in the days, but as a friendly counterpart to digital streaming. As Theresa wrote:

Analog offers a high comfort level and the ability to draw one into the music. Not only how music sounds but also how one relates the music and the performers. The best Analog is beautiful, comfortable and very realistic. Full of the emotions of the players and the uncanny presence of their instruments within the original recording space transported into one’s room.

Analog formats while pleasing musically and sonically are plagued with varying degrees of non-musical sounds such as tape hiss and surface noise and can be difficult to play.  However with the right care and maintenance current Analog formats can last almost indefinitely.

Who would have thought our technological advances would bring us the vinyl back.

Via the guys over at Vinyl Fanatics, who are also keeping it alive.
