2. How To Find Records
NYLVI is a venue and portal for independent artists, labels, record stores, collectors and specialists coming from many different locations. Our intention is to cover all genres and sub-genres in the musical landscape and help you find exactly the record you're looking for!
1. Search Bar
Just type the name of the artist, title or seller you're looking for in the search box in the header and click search. You can also use the filters to help narrow your search results.
2. Collectors' Items
If you're looking for a rare record, the Collectors' Item feature can be of great help. This feature gives you direct access to the sellers' collectables. You can either browse the full list or search inside it.
3. Special Selection
Here certain artists and records are highlighted, as part of a specific theme or event, and picked by users, invited guests and the NYLVI Team. It's a great way to discover new music and artists.
4. Browse The Scenes
NYLVI is based on a scene-structure. This gives you the opportunity to discover new music by browsing the different scenes, see what's going on and read local opinions and reviews. It's also easy to browse the different sellers' shop, as they will be listed in the scenes they belong to geographically.
3. Understanding Vinyl Grading
All sellers must indicate a grade that accurately reflects the condition of their record. NYLVI asks all sellers to follow the Goldmine Standard, which is as follows:
New
Mint (M)
Near Mint (NM)
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Very Good (VG)
Good (G)/ Good Plus (G+)
Fair (F)
Poor (P)
Click here for a full explanation of the Goldmine Standard
Some sellers also use the description area to give more information about the record. If you're still unsure about the condition of a record you should contact the seller directly through NYLVI's message system.
4. Buying Records
Once you've found a record you'd like to buy, follow these steps to check out.
1. Add the record to your Shopping Bag
When you find a record you want to buy, click the Add to Bag button. To see your Shopping Bag, simply click View Bag. You can also go to your shopping bag at any time by clicking the icon in the top right of the screen.
2. Click the Checkout Button
If you want to continue shopping, click Continue Shopping. To remove an item from your cart, click the Remove button next to that record. When you are done, click Checkout.
3. Enter your shipping information
Select a saved address from the dropdown menu or enter a new address. Click Revise Cart to go back and edit your order. Click Next Step to proceed.
4. Select your payment method and submit order
Choose one of the payment methods available. If you'd like, you can leave a message to the seller. Use the message system to ask questions directly to the seller or to note important information, e.g. that your order address is different from your PayPal address. Please review your order. Click Submit Order to complete the checkout.
5. Await confirmation from seller
After submitting an order, the seller will update the status of the order and send you confirmation via NYLVI's message system. In Your NYLVI > Purchases you can check on the status of your order and receive any further information regarding the transaction.
6. Send your payment.
In Your NYLVI > Purchases:
If you're paying by check or money order, please send it to the address you receive from the seller via the message system.
If you have chosen to pay by bank transfer/wire transfer, please follow the instructions you receive from the seller via the message system.
If you are paying through PayPal, click the Pay with PayPal button. You will be taken to a PayPal page for the purchase. If you do not want to sign up for a PayPal account, scroll down and you will see the options to pay by credit card or from a bank account. After payment, you will be redirected to your purchase order. You must return to PayPal and pay each seller individually. Once you receive your records, you may leave feedback for the seller.
5. Feedback
Feedback is a way to talk about your experience of a transaction. Buyers can tell everybody about the service received from a seller, and about the record purchased. Sellers can leave feedback for buyers about the payment process.
1. Your NYLVI > Feedback
The Feedback link is located on the left hand side of the Your NYLVI page. Here you can view Feedback received, and Records Awaiting Feedback. Select the Records Awaiting Feedback tab.
2. Leave Feedback
Rate the transaction on a scale of 1 to 5. You also can leave a comment relating to the transaction if you'd like to be more specific. Be honest with your rating. Always try to resolve any issues with the buyer/seller in question before leaving negative feedback. Review your feedback, and click Submit.
